UncertWeb

UncertWeb covers methods and standards for quantifying, encoding, and propagating uncertainty through spatial environmental models and geospatial web service chains. The site documents research from the UncertWeb project (2010-2013), funded under the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme, and related work on uncertainty-enabled earth observation infrastructure.

Writing addresses Monte Carlo propagation methods, ensemble and distribution parameter encoding, the extension of OGC web service standards (WPS, WFS, WCS) to carry structured uncertainty metadata, and the model web architecture for global earth observation within GEOSS. The jStat JavaScript library, developed in connection with the project, is also covered.

The site is written for geospatial data scientists, earth observation researchers, environmental modelers, and practitioners who work with spatial data products and need reliable methods for tracking and communicating the uncertainty that accompanies those products.
